Charity Meets Fun

There are fewer experiences more American than a scrappy sandlot baseball game in Austin, Texas. On November 16, Ken & Yvette Krumhansl and Matt & Jordan Slabaugh will be hosting the 6th annual Sandlot Friendsgiving charity baseball game at The Long Time.

Bring your blankets, chairs, coolers and plan to spend the afternoon enjoying live music from local musicians and playing yard games with new friends and old.

All proceeds go to charity! The winning team will donate 60% of raised funds to the charity of their choice. The losing team will donate the remaining 40% to the charity of their choice. Team Krumhansl has chosen Austin Sunshine Camps and Team Slabaugh has chosen HAAM.

Hosts

Meet our team captains

Ken Krumhansl

90s HipHop Aficionado

Ken's favorite sports team is the 1986 NY Mets. His fondest baseball memory is having his dad throw the ball well out of reach so he could try to make a spectacular diving catch mirroring those of Lenny Dykstra. He has been to 13 of the 30 MLB stadiums. A Thursday day game at Wrigley ranks as one of the most memorable days of his life.

    Yvette Ruiz

    Shower Singer

I tried so hard in middle school to be athletic. The coach didn't let me try out for basketball for obvious reasons. I was a sprinter and hurdle jumper until I sprained my ankle jumping hurdles in high heels to show off. Since then, my athletic career has been limited to singing the National Anthem at sporting events to score free tickets.

      Chris Johnson

      Parakeet

Easily the fifth best outfielder on his high school baseball team. Not really getting a chance to play really cleared up time as a young high schooler to go see Limp Bizkit at South Park Meadows Amphitheater before it was a shopping center in South Austin. If not “working”, you’ll find him seeing live music or eating or binge watching TV.

        Laura Johnson

        Woman About Town

Once played on a t-ball team in elementary school. After earning the nickname of “Magnet” due to multiple incidents in right field, the decision was made to retire from all sports in general at the age of 10. Luckily, that opened up time for her real passion of all things dealing with events and food and music and, well, basically everything else.

          Sponsors

This event would not have been possible without the help of these sponsors. Big thanks to the tasty drink providers and companies generous with their time/money.
